Welcome to my blog
Personally, I'm not much impressed when Believers in Christ become emotionally involved in politics, such as deep hatred. (guilty here...when younger I did). I do believe in participating in the political process by voting, working for candidates, working at voting prescincts, putting signs in our yards, etc. And, as I like to do, gather a few friends and discuss the candidates.
But I don't believe in using a worship pulpit to promote candidates, or organize protests/support, or to do dumb things like announce the name of the Antichrist or any other boastings of inside information for God's eyes only. We don't know these things; HE does. Don't you think matters of war, pestulance, the downward slide of moralilty have been experineced by every generation of people God created? These things, and a nation's response, are a part of the molding cast of a society. Had I been an adult then, would I not have thought Hitler or any other warmongers might be the Antichrist? Perhaps the potential for one of the major thugs of history to become just that -the coming thief of life - has existed for every generation...but God has, from olden times, been willing to forgive his Creation and extend life and love to repentant hearts. God values our faithfulness!
GOD VALUED FAITHFULNESS so much that he was willing to bargain with Abraham over just that matter. Will God not honor our faith today?! Of course he will. Should our country slide against Gods truths, there will still remain a faithful remnant of God's people. While there are always man's interpretive differences toward God's teachings....Some truths are undeniable. So, let's consider neither candidate, as much as the slice of our culture they represent.
Again...LET'S NOT VOTE FOR INDIVIUAL CANDIDATES THIS YEAR...it isn't the incumbent candidate nor the opposition candidate (not yet quite clearly defined). We haven't changed that much over the years. This year's vote is kind of like in Junior High School...canidates are just the 'front man' for a lot of folks behind him/her who carry the real clout to influence their candidate. Of course most will just turn away and complain until the next election. And please notice that followers and party loyalists aren't necessarily the smartest cookies in the jar. So who do you stand with...not the individual candidate, but the cloud of influence over their heads and the ties that bind them to others.
Where do you draw your line in the sand? With whom will I stand on issues of truth where God has spoken......
1) Late, late term annihilation and disposal of the unborn
2) God is not through with His chosen people, Israel, and we are not to abandon them
3) The destruction, ridicule, and sheer abandonment of law and order...In days of old, people picked up stones in the deserts to kill those they wanted to destroy by 'stoning.' You think the pallets of bottles, rocks, bricks, etc. thrown at law officers and innocent business owners are not seen by our God as public stonings?
4) The praise offered by public personalities to bloodthirsty Stupids who roam our streets and the hidden identity of those who finance delivery of weapons on pallets? Or pay their bail.
5} Taxation and other forms of wealth control - now named 'redistribution.'
6} Immigration and borders.
Oh, there are so many more issues I'll not try to mention...you know them.
It doesn't matter if one belongs to a political party or is neutral. I say again, some things matter much more than a focus on one person alone. So many foibles of humans have to be equaled out because candidates at this high a level have all stretched the truth (even lied), hidden serious mistakes, been tempted by greed, sex, popularity, ego-swelling compliments, and on and on...and some have actually fallen to the tempting. And everybody's personality is grating on lots of folks nerves.
I'm quite sure I was never smart enough to know everything about the candidates I chose, but I tried...and I've voted independently for over 30 years...before it became 'trendy' to say one is an 'independent.' There's a sense of accomplishment when the serious voter walks away from the voting booth...and a certain level of feeling responsible to hope and pray for those we decided to support. We'll be watching to see if they can be team players. We don't really need all running backs, quarterbacks, etc. Our country needs a team.
God has taught us that organized teamwork works! He compared this truth to a body with hands, feet. and other significant body parts. And let us not forget that God led Jesus to choose 12 men of diverse personalities and personal strengths and flaws. God didn't load his team with limited perspective!
This year, let us Vote for WHERE WE STAND beside truth. There is no "your truth or my truth". In these matters and more, there are just God's principals of unchanging truth. Life is important to God. As also its preservation. No one has painted on a Washington DC street. "God and Truth matter." Not a bad idea when you think about it. Don't vote for a man or woman this year. These are not our grandfather's Dems or Repubs...not at all! Let's vote for the community of value-shared folks we will walk with and where they're going. Do we know where they're going?
What's God got to do with it?
