The Devotion of a True Love

What can we offer those we love but our best effort and intention.  Promises are just ways of trying to affirm; to encourage; to say, "I'll stay with you."  Promises are hard to keep when others interfere, or when we are weak, or when we allow ourselves to be divided in our hearts by loyalties.  We must choose our loylties well.

Some enjoy the always new and refreshing nature of great love...rarely boring or stagnant...they work at it too!  Others are satisfied with the ordinary love that is just faithful with sincere, but nominal effort in the categories of creativity...same, faithful, dependable dailiness of commitment. And a few have the love that is not legitimate: perhaps stolen from someone else or just having strayed away from any real or authentic goodness.  The certainty of a sickness in devotion is in it's secrecy....the darkness that hides it and casts hurtful shadows on the lives of others.  And the clingy selfish acts of 'owning' another.

The devotion of genuine Love is more than a sticky emotion...it is a true commitment toward the best for both.  It is exclusive and deserves protection and nurturing.  When strongly grounded in trust and love, devotion becomes an open way of life that sheds joy on all who see it.

What joy!  The genuine devotion of honest love!

My thought, my belief, the way I hope I am walking.  How grateful my whole being, that I am loved by someone who seeks understanding and desires the best for us.  

Prayer of Love: May the God of all love bring each of us to hearts humbled with kindness...hearts that seek understanding.  And may He renew in us His strength and purpose. May heart reach out to heart in deep compassion. And may we be at peace. Amen
