Expressing Faith in a Faith-challenged World

Something is on my mind a lot and I'm needing to release it. But I still have questions. The more I learn about the hugeness of my God and the connection of all things living in the Universe, the more I desire the power for Good to be exercised in my life. The first stumbling block I find is the way to communicate faith in a faith-challenged world. I find, even myself as a Christian, that I'm turned off by Christ-like images painted on velvet boards, and seemingly meaningless expressions of faith such as "Jesus Saves" on auto license plates or Interstate billboards. And conversational expressions are also offending to me such as 'Jesus' did this or Jesus did that...we don't know what Jesus is doing in a concrete way. But it is for me, the rock-solid, yet tender nature of someone I meet or already know, and their daily way of loving others that inspires in me the understanding that they are the presence of the love of God. So, here we are, my generation, finding that after all it is just loving one another that matters. And loving a tough world. And loving the beauty of the physical world. And lovingly approaching all our challenges. And lovingly accepting our strengths and weaknesses...never making excuses...just moving forward in growth and strength.  I humorously recall the "Love" images of the 1960s when love was 'open' and 'free'.  How little that generation understood of the true nature of real love.  How misguided the generational confusion and uproar.  True love was at our fingertips, but yet so far away.  Now it is clearly apparent that it is our eyes of understanding that blind us or give us light for the path.  We use those real eyes not in the roar of a crowd of 'lovers' or in the isolation of our own thoughts, but in the wide open Universe of unending pleasure gifts...sunrises and sunsets, deep canyons and tall mountains, the sweetness of our Mom's eyes, the strong hands of a Dad, the longing looks of those seeking healing, even the sounds of nature makes love images in our minds.  Loving the Creator is the first call of life and loving others the only thing we really know about 'Jesus.'  We read his recorded life, but we only 'know' him by partnership in loving the inhabitants of our world...and that is REAL...Jesus does save, but not by cliche.  So there we have...life wasn't so complicated after all.  Faith rises.
