What Was That Which You Said And That I Interrupted?

There is a previously rare neurological condition which is nearing epidemic occurance. It engages the brain-ego-tongue in ways that inhibit one's perceptions of self and others. Presently there are no Rx cures...but it looks hopeful that if the patient rests (especially during conversations, or during periods of curiosity) the condition lessens in spastic occurances. We have all had a touch of it from time to time, as it is our nature to run ahead of our verbal selves in the presence of others on occasion. At first it was thought to be isolated in the state of AR, but further examination finds it is widespread. Therefore the publication of the condition warranted some re-examination of it's name (arktlk) to 'spastastaticitis' (the contition of spastic static chat). The condition presents itself only when oral conversation has ensued. It's presentation includes excessive side comments or questions while another is talking so as to lose all continuity of thought. For some reason it is more likely to occur in the stronger (A) personality within the dialog. Observers relate noticing that participant B listens as participant A speaks, but A, though appearing to be interested, constantly interrupts B in what seems to be a desire to illicit additional details to B's comment, or to direct the dialog to the wishes, attention, or ego-stroking of A. Patients can be helped by the consumption of small bits of food or water, thereby otherwise engaging their tongues in silent activity as another speaks. Breathing deeply seems to help also. Participant B can protect their dignity or gain some additional influence over the conversation by simply resuming their meal or other activity and leave the assumption of the 'rest of the story' to whatever will stroke the A ego. Generally, B needs to move on, as the unsolicited static interruption clutters the honest response B seeks to make.  A cannot really apply his/her perspicacity regarding B...sad.

*perspicacity [pur-spi-kas-i-tee] - keenness of mental perception and understanding; discernment; penetration.
